DashHarbor / Business Intelligence
One definition per KPI. A clearer reporting foundation.
Before calculating growth, margin or on-time delivery, the team needs to agree on what each metric means and which data belongs in it. This service organizes KPI definitions and the data model underlying your Power BI reports.
Discuss your requirements ↗Agree on what performance means
What counts as a completed order? Is revenue before or after returns? Is margin gross or operating? We link each KPI to a management question and define its formula, unit, period, filters and source, then review it with the decision-makers.
Model the questions you need to answer
We review granularity, shared keys and available date, product, customer or branch tables. Relationships must preserve the intended aggregation levels. The required calculations are then built within the agreed scope.
Review quality and consistency
Values are reconciled with source data and existing reports, with differences explained. Aggregation, duplication and missing-data rules are reviewed as required. A data model does not automatically correct operational or source-entry problems.
Prepare for the first enquiry
List your current KPIs, related decisions, disagreements in reported figures and data sources. An example of two teams defining the same metric differently can be a useful starting point.
Questions about this service
Can you review an existing Power BI model?
Yes. We review relationships, calculations and outputs, then agree on changes without assuming that everything must be rebuilt.
Does this include dashboard design?
It can be a standalone stage or part of a dashboard project. Page design and interaction are scoped separately.
Can reported figures change after definitions are unified?
Yes, where prior definitions or aggregation differ. We explain and review those differences rather than changing figures without context.
